We spent all day today in Dublin.
Although a fairly large city at 1.2M people, the downtown area is quite compact. Our tour took us to St Patrick’s Cathedral
which was originally constructed in 1195. Recorded history goes back further here.
The tour also took us to the Trinity College library where pages from the Book of Kells are displayed but no photos as photograph is not allowed in the library. I really wanted to take a photo in the Long Hall but they are easy to come by online so I can get one for our scrapbook.
After Trinity we walked back to our hotel and stopped at a couple of shops. Dublin has lots of small shops unlike cities back home
Walking back to the hotel we passed this upscale hotel in an old bank building. Tomorrow we’re off to Kildare, Youghal and Cork.

The church is beautiful.
There are towns in the U.S. with small shops. I enjoy going to Cape May, NJ, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada; and Wellsboro, PA for that very reason.
