Day - 04

Before I get to today, an errata, two days ago, back in Dublin I mentioned a hotel we’d seen built into an elegant old bank building but I neglected to post the image. Here it is.

Day-02-79W

So having gotten that out of the way, this morning we started out in Cork. This morning there was an optional tour to an old prison which Carol and I chose to pass on. Instead we walked downtown to visit the “English Market”. It is very reminiscent of the Pike Place Market in Seattle with meat sellers and vegetable sellers and fish sellers and some craft shops in an indoor market setting.

 Day-04-082W

While we were walking around Cork we found this very interesting and a bit quirky, sculpture/fountain.

Day-04-040W

The large cities such as Cork all have lovely and old churches. Even the small towns have interesting churches such as this one that I saw as we drove through Lower Massytown.

Day-04-129W

We visited Blarney Castle, home to the old stone. About half on the people on the tour climbed the 160 steps to do so.

Day-04-111W

Tomorrow the tour will take us around the “Ring of Kerry” We will spend tonight and tomorrow in Killarney.
